KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) — The inaugural 2024 APAC Technopreneurship Empowerment Conference (ATEC 2024) will be held here on Aug 8, to advance technology innovation and technopreneurship through strategic collaboration between the government and industry.

Centre of Regional Strategic Studies (CROSS) chairman Lee Chean Chung said it is a pivotal event to establish Malaysia as a hub connecting local technopreneurs to the broader regional technopreneurship landscape, while positioning Malaysia as a market leader and major influencer in the region.

“The conference will focus on cultivating a robust ecosystem for science, technology and innovation, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and empowering technopreneurs to leverage emerging technologies for entrepreneurship while enhancing regional exposure for Malaysian innovators,” he told a press conference on ATEC 2024 today.

He said CROSS and the Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (SEARCH) have partnered with Wellous Group Limited (Wellous) and key agencies under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) to organise the conference, which is endorsed by MOSTI.

The MOSTI agencies involved in organising the conference are NanoMalaysia Berhad, Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA), Bioeconomy Corporation and Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (CRADLE).

Lee said the conference aims to foster and promote technopreneurship, working together to drive technological innovation and support technopreneurship development across Asia Pacific.

He said Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park Development Sdn Bhd (MCKILP) is also one of the strategic partners for ATEC 2024, underscoring the importance of public-private collaboration in driving socioeconomic development and fostering an ecosystem conducive to technopreneurship through joint research projects, policy dialogues, and capacity-building programmes.

“We are excited to embark on this collaborative journey with our strategic partners from both the private and public sectors, in alignment with our mission to promote innovative and tech-enabled platforms for health and wellness awareness,” said Mr. Andy Tan, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wellous.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to driving positive impact in the region by harnessing the power of innovation and collaboration. We are eager to see the new ideas and connections that will emerge from this event, and we are confident that these meaningful connections will propel Malaysian technopreneurs to global success.”

SEARCH chief executive officer Ian Neo said ATEC 2024 provides a strategic avenue for experts and stakeholders from across the region to explore new synergies between industries and gain first-hand knowledge and insights from industry forerunners.

“We believe there are vast opportunities from untapped potentials that we can harness through this conference,” he said.

ATEC 2024 will feature exclusive forums focused on four key areas: Space Economy, Bioeconomy, New Energy Economy, and Tech Talent Economy.

Between August and October, three roundtable meetings with stakeholders will be held to focus on the development of key industries, with these sessions to be moderated by MYSA, Bioeconomy Corporation and NanoMalaysia Berhad.
