🔥🔥Industry Leaders Spotlight Smart, Sustainable and Technology-Driven Growth in the Construction Sector at MIBIE 2026 Launch
🌸Shah Alam, 21 May 2026 — The inaugural Malaysia International Building and Innovation Expo (MIBIE 2026) was officially launched yesterday, bringing the latest construction technology, smart infrastructure and sustainable building solutions closer to industry players to strengthen the national development ecosystem.
The launch, which took place at Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC) in Shah Alam, featured a panel discussion titled “Building the Future: Shaping Tomorrow with Innovation and Excellence”, bringing together leading industry experts to discuss the future of the construction sector.
💥Panelists Highlight Smart, Sustainable and Scalable Growth in Construction
During the discussion, Derrick Tanggapan, Director of MIDA Melaka, highlighted the future of the construction sector, emphasising the importance of the three S’s: smart, sustainable, and scalable.
“If we look at these three S’s, we should also see sustainability and competitiveness as a single objective, driving long-term growth,” he said.
Supporting this perspective, Datuk Dr. Noel Robert, the Chairman of Material Handling and Logistics Technology Association of Malaysia (MHLTA), highlighted the importance of forward-looking practices: “Smart building is the future of construction, and whether you are a small or large developer, it’s important to start adopting these practices. You can scale according to your budget, but the key is to start now,” he said.
💥Meanwhile, Col. Associate Frank Tan, Vice President of Crane Lifting Planners and Supervisors Association of Malaysia (CLPSAM), shared his perspective on leveraging the expo to upscale business operations:
“Visiting the expo allows businesses to learn about the latest technology, upscale their operations, and stay visible in the market. Investing in solutions that can be expanded over time helps companies improve efficiency, adapt to future needs and avoid repeated purchases.”
The launching ceremony was attended by key industry associations, including the Material Handling and Logistics Technology Association of Malaysia (MHLTA), Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SAMENTA) Malaysia, Malaysia Heavy Construction Equipment Owners’ Association (PAJPBM), Malaysian Interior Industry Partners Association (MIIP), and Crane Lifting Planners and Supervisors Association of Malaysia (CLPSAM).
💥A Platform for Innovation and Industry Leadership
MIBIE 2026, organised by INEX Event and Management, is scheduled to take place from 18 to 20 November 2026 at MAEPS Serdang, Selangor, and will bring together professionals from construction, design, and architecture.
“MIBIE was created with one simple mission: to build a stronger platform that connects industries, innovation, technology, and international collaboration under one ecosystem. The exhibition will feature key highlight zones, including technology showcases and workshops, giving participants the opportunity to experience the latest innovations and explore practical solutions for their businesses,” said Andy Liow, Founder of MIBIE.
💥MIBIE 2026 will feature four major focus areas, each designed to drive development in the building and construction industries:
* The Green Build Hub: Focused on sustainable materials, renewable energy integration, water management, and green certification (e.g., GBI, LEED).
* The Tech & Digitalisation Arena: Featuring BIM software, construction robotics, IoT for smart buildings, VR/AR for design visualisation, and project management platforms.
* The Architectural & Design Precinct: Showcasing innovative finishes, interior design solutions, and architectural masterpieces.
* The Industrial & Infrastructure Zone: Highlighting heavy machinery, structural solutions, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
💥Beyond the exhibition, attendees can expect engaging seminars and live product demonstrations, offering an opportunity to interact with experts and learn about the latest industry trends.
With a strong focus on collaboration, MIBIE 2026 will provide extensive networking opportunities, enabling professionals to form valuable connections and explore potential partnerships across all sectors of the construction and building industries.
